5 Work Placement Host Responsibilities

Work Placement Host

  • Provide the College with placements as available and outline specific requirements.
  • Facilitate student placements under guidance of the College Placement Coordinator.
  • Designate qualified staff to coordinate and supervise the student during the placement.
  • Determine the role and responsibilities of the student and assign duties which represent learning opportunities that are in keeping with the learning outcomes for the placement as provided by the College.
  • Inform students of required orientation activities upon or before the placement commencement
  • Take reasonable precautions to always ensure the safety of the student and ensure the student is permitted to provide service in support of learning outcomes only when authorized and supervised by approved placement staff.
  • Maintain contact with the College Placement Coordinator providing a communication channel to address any questions or concerns arising before, during and after the placement experience.
  • Validate and track student placement hours.
  • Provide feedback to students as appropriate, and at a minimum at the completion of the placement, based upon the program’s learning objectives and requirements as directed by the College.
  • Return completed Host WIL Evaluation Form and applicable program-specific evaluations as requested by the college.
