14 Supervisor / Mentor Role

The supervisor/ mentor will be your primary point of contact at the workplace and will collaborate with the Professional Skills Coach to support you.

The role of the supervisor/mentor is to support workplace development and expose them to work that will aid in their learning. 

  • Provide mentorship and training resources for you to develop skills and make meaningful contributions to the workplace.
  • Work with you to set learning objectives that align with the workplace.
  • Communicate workplace progress with both you and the Professional Skills Coach.
  • Set performance standards, and measure progress.
  • Supervise your work by coordinating projects, resources, and timelines.
  • Build time in your work schedule to allow one half-day per week for academic work.
  • Review work and provide both corrective and reinforcing feedback.
  • Connect with the Professional Skills Coach for questions or concerns.
  • Participate in mid-term check-in and complete the end-of-term evaluation.
  • Provide feedback on your learning portfolio.
