Introduction

The School of Health at Mohawk College is introducing Virtual Reality (VR) as a new simulation modality. As we introduce VR across a variety of programs and faculty groups, our goal is to evaluate the strengths and limitations of this modality to be able to both understand and advise on its best use cases at Mohawk College.

Our current hardware inventory contains 20 Meta Quest 3 headsets, each with controllers and a battery pack. We currently have a subscription to a nursing simulation software, UbiSim, and are open to considering and trialing other software that may be appropriate for our learners.

This online resource book provides a comprehensive review of the policies and standard operating procedures for VR at the Centre for Healthcare Simulation and Research (CHSR) at Mohawk College, along with essential resources to support the effective implementation and use of VR headsets and applications within our programs.
