This OER, QSkills 4, 3rd Edition Vocabulary Review was created by Sari Martin. This book is a work in progress, and new content will be added as it is developed. Read the following introduction, from Sari.
This Pressbook grew from the already existing H5Ps I had created to practice QSkills vocabulary, and it made sense to create a compilation of all the activities into one Pressbook. It’s an interactive compliment to the classroom textbook. The added bonus is that this changing and growing Pressbook can be adapted to new editions of QSkills.
This QSkills 4 3rd Edition vocabulary review Pressbook is suited to Georgian College’s levels 5 and 6 English for Academic Purposes courses. Each chapter focuses on either the vocabulary from the QSkills 4 3rd Edition Reading & Writing textbook, Units 1-8, or the vocabulary from the QSkills 4 3rd Edition Listening & Speaking textbook, Units 1-8. The vocabulary in both those core courses is a course learning outcome, and therefore such a practice textbook supports our course objectives.
The goal is to complete all 8 Units from QSkills 4 for Reading & Writing, and all 8 Units from QSkills 4 Listening & Speaking. Once this Pressbook is complete, the next achievement would be to build a QSkills 5 vocabulary review Pressbook for our levels 7 and 8 English for Academic Purposes classes.
For English as a Second Language students, or English Language Learners not familiar or using the QSkills series of classroom textbooks, this vocabulary practice pressbook is still a useful exercise in introducing new, mostly high-frequency, academic words, with follow-up practice.
