Reflection

Semester 1 Fall 2024:

Returning to school after two years and thinking I was never going to go back to school feels very surreal in a way. This semester so far has been manageable but also I good challenge. I find myself applying my knowledge more in university than when I was in college. I find going back to school after going to college and working for 2 years has helped me understand and retain the content that is being taught. I find a lot more of the content being taught now in university I am able to understand it than when I was in college.

There was a lot of considerations when I chose to accept to go back to university. There were lists of pros and cons made before I decided to go back. Such as decreased work hours, and deciding if I wanted to deal with school stress again. I am always intrigued to learn more about nursing and medicine and with getting my RN degree it opens a lot more career paths for me.

Since starting university I have had to learn how to balance school and work. My organization has helped me stay on track for school assignments and tests. Another resource that has helped me through this semester of school is School Mental Health Ontario (Ontario, 2024). A couple tips that I found useful were, “notice the good things, fuel yourself well, get some sleep, and take breaks.”(Ontario, 2024). The mental health tips for students has helped me with staying mentally well for school and not getting burnt out while working and attending school full-time. Having a great support system from my family and significant other has helped keep me motivated and to keep trying my hardest.
