Meet the Editors

Devon Stillwell

Education Developer (SoTL Coordinator), Trent Teaching Commons

Devon StillwellDr. Devon Stillwell is an Education Developer (SoTL Coordinator) and Course Instructor at Trent University. As an Ed Developer, she supports faculty SoTL projects; designs SoTL programming and communities of practice; and plans visiting speakers as part of the Distinguished Visiting Teaching Scholars program. She also coordinates and facilitates campus-wide SoTL events including a SoTL Symposium, the SoTL Retreat, the Scholars’s Table community of practice. As a Course Instructor, she teaches in History, as well as in Gender and Social Justice, on subjects related to women, health, and modern medicine. She has been an adjunct faculty member of the Trent History Department since 2021. Devon is passionate about SoTL research and currently serves as Secretary on the SoTL Canada Executive. Her SoTL interests include the history of SoTL in Canada; belonging and identity in SoTL; and trauma-informed pedagogy, amongst other topics.


Dana Capell

Senior Education Developer, Trent Teaching Commons

Dana Capell

With over 20 years of experience in a variety of educational settings, Dana brings to her work as Senior Education Developer a deep appreciation of instructional and assessment practices that help students develop critical skills. In her former role as an Academic Skills Instructor, Dana provided individual and group support to students working across the disciplines and contributed to the development of several university-wide educational initiatives including the Academic Integrity Module, Trent’s Three Minute Thesis Program, and the Online Learning Student Assistant program.  Dana holds a B.A. (hons) in American Studies and Women’s Studies from Carleton College, an M.A. in history from Rutgers University, a Graduate Certificate in Teaching from American University, and an M.Ed. in Educational Studies from Trent University.

eLearning Designer, Trent Teaching Commons

Stephanie Ferguson is an eLearning Designer with the Trent Teaching Commons at Trent University. Previously, she was the Curriculum Development and LMS Lead for the Indigenous e-Channel organization of Ontario providing access to free quality online education in remote northern communities. Stephanie has extensive experience in online course design encouraging collaboration and innovation using educational technology. She has lead multiple award-winning projects, including two global award wins as well as provincial honours.

Student Researcher, Trent Teaching Commons

Aya Yagnaya is a Student Researcher with the Trent Teaching Commons at Trent University. They are an undergraduate student completing their BSc Honours in Anthropology in 2026. Aya plans to continue their academic journey in anthropology at Trent University, with a MSc specializing in dental anthropology. Their area of interest is dental calculus found on loose comingled teeth recovered from Maya burials in Ka’Kabish, Belize. Aya plans to continue on as a Student Researcher during their time at Trent.
