Final Thoughts
We became better teachers as a result of using UDL. Our course curriculum and pedagogy improved, enabling us to explain why we do things the way we do. Ultimately, we confronted our fear of UDL by learning that it was a framework for a disciplined and analytic discussion about our course. It provided a foundation for student comments like this:
“The unique way that the course was presented was perfect for the subject matter as it clearly explained the wide range of topics this class had to cover from history and legal politics to deeper possibly more difficult to grasp concepts of spirituality. I would say the class was easy, but that doesn’t mean discrediting the complexity of the subject matter or the class itself. Rather, I believe the subject matter of the course conveyed rather vast information with a clear and enticing presentation, which makes the class easy because it’s enjoyable.”
