About the Author

Beth Needham is an expressive artist, instructor, and academic advisor working at Trent University. She has worked at Trent and other schools supporting and teaching higher education students in various roles for over fifteen years. As a non-Indigenous ally and Water Walker with Nibi Emosaawdamajig, she believes that the lands and waters of Peterborough and the Kawartha Highlands act as some of her oldest and wisest teachers. Her passions include decolonizing organizational behaviour, trauma-informed pedagogy, leadership, arts-based research, and learning from the land. Prior to working at Trent, Beth held a long career in the social services sector and that experience inspires her to create physically, emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically safe spaces wherever she finds herself. This experience also allows her to have a real-world understanding and an informed perspective on the ways in which trauma work and wellbeing intersect. Beth can often be found floating in her canoe with her guitar in a quiet bay on a sunny day, this is where she is happiest, and this is what she has tried to share with you in the creation of the TRIP Guidebook.
