My Two Artifacts
Mom: My mom has been a really important part of my life especially when it comes to this point of my life where I am aspiring to become a nurse. Growing up my mom played an important role as being a source of strength and compassion. Watching her strive to become a nurse and give my brothers a good life has made me appreciate her more for everything that she’s done for me. Being able to witness firsthand my mom balance the challenging profession of being a nurse and motherhood is honestly astonishing to me. I feel like my mom was meant to be a nurse the way she has these amazing qualities of compassion, caring, and kindness. Her dedication to learning left a good impression on me and she honestly changed my mind as my first plan was to jump straight into the working force, but I decided to keep learning, advancing my knowledge, and refining my skills. The one thing that stands out to me about my mom is her unwavering sense of purpose. My mom doesn’t see nursing as just a job but as a calling. My mom found joy in helping other people and sacrificing her comfort for the sake of others. As I continue on my path to becoming a nurse I strive to have the same resilience as my mom and I plan to carry all her life lessons and teachings that she’s taught me over the years growing up with her. My mom didn’t just influence my decision-making to become a nurse but shaped the kind of nurse that I want to be. I am forever grateful for all she has done for me and I strive to make her proud.
My Acceptance Letter: When I first received my acceptance letter to the nursing program, I think my life switched and changed in a very different direction. That moment will forever be anchored in my memory because the letter was more than just a piece of paper to me, but rather a symbol of determination, hard work, and countless hours of preparation.
