Homelessness
1 Introduction to Student Research on Homlessness
Homelessness is a significant issue because it deprives individuals of the basic human need for shelter and security. Beyond the immediate lack of housing, homelessness is associated with a range of challenges, including poor physical and mental health outcomes, limited access to education and employment opportunities, and increased social tensions. Homelessness is a growing challenge in Niagara, with thousands of households struggling to afford housing. The way media frames homelessness can influence public perception and policy decisions. Media analysis can help us understand how to effectively communicate about homelessness and use media productively to advocate for positive change.
In the following pages you can read about the research projects conducted by students who chose homlessness as their issue to analyze in the media. Continue to the student work by clicking the next chapter in the blue bar at the bottom of your screen.
