Smart Goals

"Setting clear, measurable goals is the bridge between intention and achievement; without a way to track progress, success remains a distant dream." (Tracy, 2004, p.4)

SMART GOAL # 1:

Goal: I will learn all the body cavities by name and be able to describe 2-3 major organs in each system and explain how they work with some detail, by the end of January 2025. To achieve this goal, I will review my human anatomy textbook and notes, participate in online anatomy activities (e.g., McGraw Hill A&P Revealed, Smartbook activities) and watch related videos for one hour each week. I will track my progress by completing online practice quizzes set to varying difficulty levels (e.g., beginner, intermediate, and mastery) and by applying my knowledge during in-class discussions and lab simulations, while seeking feedback from instructors.

SMART GOAL # 2

Goal: By the end of my winter semester (April 2025), I will be able to independently complete each phase of the head-to-toe assessment in the correct order and sequence as taught by my instructors. I will achieve this goal by practicing this assessment at least twice a week, while reviewing my notes to ensure I know where to assess, what to assess for and understand reasons why I assess.  I will also observe my lab instructors’ demonstrations and ask questions when I am unclear about a step. I will measure my progress in head-to-toe assessments by seeking feedback during labs on how to refine my skills and by reflecting on areas for improvement in assessment, while setting goals and strategies to accomplish these along the way.

SMART GOAL # 3

Goal: By the end of February 2025, I will prioritize self-care more consistently by dedicating at least one hour each week to engage in hobbies and activities that align with my personal interests, while utilizing my personalized virtual self-care kit online. To track my progress, I will keep a weekly journal to reflect on my growth in areas of spiritual, mental and emotional well-being. I will document the amount of time I spent on self-care activities while reflecting on it’s positive impact on my well-being.

SMART GOAL # 4: SELF CARE

Goal: By the end of the first 12 months of this program (August 2025), I will improve my overall health and fitness levels. by exercising regularly and eating healthy. I will engage in physical movement activities such as walking, running, skipping etc. three times a week for at least 30 minutes a day. I will also read evidence based articles on nutrition and cook more nutrient dense meals. I will track my progress for both health and fitness using quality wellness apps (e.g., Fooducate and Aaptiv) , that indicate how well I am progressing in meeting my goals while providing professional based (e.g., dietitian, phycisian) recommendations for meals and workouts in alignment with my goals.
