What considerations did you bring to your reading selections? Did you think about length, representation, genre, ordering, availability, etc.?

ES: At Susie O’Brien’s suggestion, I aimed for a solid mix of academic texts, with no more than one scholarly piece per week. Most weeks consisted of one academic piece mixed with a podcast, a blog entry, or music album.

EG: I received and acted on (or tried to…) the same suggestion! I think one thing to keep in mind is to aim for an “anchor and expansion” model; it’s better to have students understand one or two core concepts through multiple intersectional perspectives/applications/critiques/media modes/etc. than to get five or six core concepts within a similar topic on the table. I think I fell into the latter trap a few times, and would rework accordingly.
