How did you structure your application letter(s)? What information did you include?
ES: Well, to begin, my application letter was two pages long.
EG: So was mine.
ES: And I included five sections.
- 1 paragraph on why I am most qualified to teach this course
- 1+ paragraphs on why I want to teach this course
- 1 paragraph on my planned approach to teaching this course
- 2+ paragraph expanded discussion of relevant experience and qualification
- 2+ paragraph overview of my planned pedagogical approach
EG: I broke mine down by paragraph into eight sections.
- 1 paragraph introduction
- 1 paragraph overview of research areas and expertise (including comps, past and ongoing research projects, etc.)
- 2 paragraphs on teaching experience, relevant admin roles that have augmented my teaching experience, and my understanding of the course’s learning objectives
- 1 paragraph on my anticipated approach to remote learning
- 1 paragraph overview of my teaching philosophy
- 1 paragraph on the values and approaches I will bring to work with TAs
- 1 paragraph closing summary
