46 When to reach out to faculty

In what situations did you find yourself reaching out to faculty members with questions or for support?

BF: Mostly I just kept in close collaboration with Stacy, my co-teacher for the course. Even though officially we each had our own semester to deal with, we wanted the course to feel as seamless as possible. We did reach out to Susie once, and to SAS about an accommodation proposal we wanted to put forth — because it was a year-long course, we had some leeway to deal with issues that arose in the Fall but we didn’t want to persist into Winter if at all possible. It was helpful to have their input for that unusual case.

ES: I also had an unusual case that led me to reach out to a faculty member for support: I received a particularly jarring email from a student, and I felt that I needed some support from a faculty member in crafting a response. Susie met with me and helped me articulate myself. Never be afraid to reach out and ask for help!
