1 What are the specific learning outcomes for this course?

More information about Learning Outcomes (LO) is presented in Brightspace and in each of the evaluations. Part of the Success Portfolio assignment will allow you to choose the LOs you’d like to accomplish by the end of the course, which will help you choose which assignments might be right for you!

By the end of the course, successful students will have demonstrated their ability to:

  1. Define and explain foundational concepts, terminology, and major theories in psychology and mental health.
  2. Evaluate basic research methodologies used in psychological studies and critically assess the validity and reliability of the conclusions drawn from these studies, and designing simple research proposals.
  3. Discuss the importance of scientific integrity and ethical considerations in psychological research, applying Tri-Council and APA guidelines to evaluate real or hypothetical research scenario.
  4. Apply critical and creative thinking skills to analyze and interpret psychological phenomena and use scientific approaches to propose solutions to problems related to behaviour and mental processes.
  5. Develop actionable ideas on how psychological principles and knowledge can be applied in workplace scenarios, collaborative projects, and real-world settings.
  6. Articulate how psychological principles can be used to explain social issues and inform public policy through case studies and project-based assignments.
  7. Develop interpersonal and leadership skills by applying psychological principles to foster effective collaboration, self-awareness, and empathy in team and individual settings.
