The Research Proposal assignment gives you the chance to showcase your ability to synthesize key theories and research from Psychology. More information, including a grading rubric, is available in Brightspace. You will turn in three distinct evaluations associated with this assignment. This means that it is possible to earn points on one without completing the other.

Research Proposal Outline (due Friday 21 March)

The Research Proposal Outline is the final deliverable in the Research Proposal grouping. This assignment allows you to design a concise yet comprehensive plan for a psychological study, integrating your research findings, theoretical framework, and proposed methods.

Purpose

The Research Proposal Outline helps you:

  1. Demonstrate your understanding of research design and methodology.
  2. Integrate course concepts and psychological theories into a practical study plan.
  3. Prepare for advanced research experiences by proposing a study that aligns with ethical and methodological standards.

What to Include

Your Research Proposal Outline must address the following sections:

  1. Introduction & Research Question
    • Briefly introduce your topic and explain its significance.
    • Clearly state your research question.
  2. Theoretical Framework
    • Identify and describe the psychological theory guiding your study.
    • Explain how the theory relates to your research question.
  3. Methodology Overview
    • Summarize your proposed study design, including:
      • Participants: Who will participate, and why?
      • Procedures: How will the study be conducted?
      • Key Variables: Define independent and dependent variables (if applicable).
  4. Expected Outcomes
    • Discuss the anticipated findings and their potential implications for psychology.
  5. Ethical Considerations
    • Highlight ethical issues related to your study and how they will be addressed, following APA and Tri-Council guidelines.
  6. References
    • Provide a reference list in proper APA format.

  • Be Concise and Focused: Avoid unnecessary details—keep your outline succinct while covering all required sections.
