The Research Proposal
The Research Proposal assignment gives you the chance to showcase your ability to synthesize key theories and research from Psychology. More information, including a grading rubric, is available in Brightspace. You will turn in three distinct evaluations associated with this assignment. This means that it is possible to earn points on one without completing the other.
Annotated Bibliography (due Friday 7 February)
The Annotated Bibliography is the first deliverable in the Research Proposal grouping. This assignment helps you build a strong foundation for your literature review and research proposal by critically analyzing relevant psychological studies.
Purpose
The Annotated Bibliography provides an opportunity to:
- Explore peer-reviewed research relevant to your chosen topic.
- Practice summarizing, analyzing, and applying psychological research.
- Prepare for your Literature Review and Research Proposal Outline by organizing key findings.
What to Include
Your Annotated Bibliography must:
- Include 5–7 peer-reviewed journal articles directly related to your research question.
- Use proper APA formatting for citations and annotations.
- Provide a clear and concise annotation (150–200 words) for each article, covering the following:
- Summary: Key research questions, methods, and findings.
- Evaluation: Strengths and limitations of the study.
- Relevance: How the study connects to your research question and its significance for your proposal.
Tips for Success
- Choose High-Quality Sources: Use the library databases to find peer-reviewed, recent, and relevant articles.
- Stay Organized: Use a tool like Zotero or a citation manager to keep track of your sources.
- Follow the Rubric: The rubric in Brightspace outlines exactly how your work will be evaluated—use it as a guide.
- Proofread Carefully: Ensure your APA citations are correct and your annotations are clear and concise.
- Seek Feedback: Share one or two annotations with someone before finalizing your submission.
