Survivors or victims of sexual violence caused by a campus community member can do any or all the following options:

  1. They can make a disclosure:
    • Disclosure is made when an individual informs someone in the University community about an experience of sexual violence because they wish to access support, accommodations and/or information about their options
  2. They can seek informal or alternative resolution:
    • Informal options primarily involve the voluntary agreement by those involved to specific arrangements such as agreeing to not have any contact with each other or agreeing to not be in a specific area of campus at a specific time, and so forth.
  3. They can make a complaint:
    • A Complaint is made when an individual notifies (following University Policies and Procedures) the University of an allegation of sexual violence and seeks the University’s response.
  4. They can make a criminal report:
    • A Criminal Report is made when an individual files a report with a police service, including Special Constables.

Part of SVPRO’s role is to help people better understand the benefits or challenges of each option, and to support them as they navigate these options.
