3 Getting Started and User Interface

Opening SolidWorks for the first time will lead to the Welcome to SolidWorks Landing Page:

You can create 3 types of New Files (Part Files, Assembly Files, and Drawing Files). To start click on create a new Part File.

Change the measurements to your specified measurement scale.

Choose a Plane to create a sketch on: Front, Right, or Top Plane:

Once you have selected a plane, click on the sketch button to create your initial 2d sketch of the object.
