6 Artifact Collection

This is a collection of artifacts that are important to me regarding my transition into Nursing School

  1. Offer of Admission to Trent-Fleming School of Nursing (Compressed)
    Offer of Admission (Artifact 1)

Receiving my offer of admission into the Trent-Fleming Compressed Nursing program was one of the proudest moments in my academic and professional career. The day I received it, it became real that I was finally doing something with my life that I was passionate about and had something to work for every day. My decision to choose compressed over collaborative was incredibly scary. However, I know that ultimately, I can accomplish anything I put my heart into.

2016: Babysitting/ CPR License (Artifact 2)

2. Receiving my 1st CPR licence

2024: BLS provider (Artifact 2)

Almost a decade ago, I received my first-ever CPR certificate that would allow me to be prepared to care for others, especially children.  I remember the day so clearly that I now had the capacity to care for others beyond myself and the knowledge that I could make a difference in the world. Between then and now, I have received plenty of CPR certifications, and the most recent being a part of my (Non-Academic Requirements) NARS was the BLS provider certification. It pushes me to know that 11-year-old me would think I am one of the most innovative and incredible people, and I can deeply appreciate that I am making the younger me proud.

3. My First Nursing Lab

This semester, I had the opportunity to participate in my first nursing lab, which required a full Trent-Fleming nursing uniform. This image is from the PPE NURS1550 lab, handwashing and putting on/ taking off PPE. During this lab, it was one of the first times it felt natural to me that I was getting the opportunity to be a nursing student. Even such an essential lab experience demonstrated that my heart is all in this and the coming experiences. The ability to wear the uniform gives me a glimpse into my future profession and how much hard work I am ready to put into it.

4. Empathy Tiger Award- Elementary School

2014: Empathy Award, Ridpath Lakefield (Artifact 4)

During Elementary school, our school handed out monthly awards of specific values to the students they believed deserved that award. Ever since receiving this award, even at nine years old, I have made it one of my most important values to hold myself to: always try to understand and connect with those around me. One of my core values (mentioned on the previous page) is always trying to understand and connect with those around me. As I interact with my patients, I aspire to carry this forward into my career as a nurse.

5. HighSchool Diploma- Adam Scott CVI

Transitioning from High school to University and pushing myself to strive for success have always been motivators for my future. Without this biggest accomplishment thus far, I would not have been able to learn how to be a nurse and work towards a BScN degree. I am incredibly proud of the person I have become today, and that is with incredible thanks to the girl who worked hard in high school to be where she is. High school also allowed me the opportunity to successfully acquire my B2 in French immersion and participate in leadership opportunities.
