5 Troubleshooting for Respondus
- To access an exam that uses Respondus Lockdown Browser (+ Monitor), you must:
- Download Respondus Lockdown Browser from IT Services
- Close all applications on your computer
- Ensure your webcam is working (if using Monitor)
- Open Respondus Lockdown Browser
- Select Canvas from the dropdown, then go to the course and exam you are taking
Quick Tips
� I don’t have Respondus on my computer
- Download Respondus Lockdown Browser from IT Services before your exam date/time.
� I can’t get through the Startup Sequence in Monitor/my webcam isn’t detected
- Be sure to turn off anti-virus and firewall software.
- Disable Mac Filevault and Firewall (for MAC users) and/or AVG for MAC.
- Try a different Wifi connection if possible, or move closer to your router.
- Ensure other users on the network close intensive applications like Netflix or games.
- Check the privacy settings for your webcam.
- Restart the Startup Sequence.
� I lost my connection during the exam
- Make a note of the time you lost your connection, then contact your instructor right away.

It is VERY important that you take the time to do any practice exams with Respondus Lockdown Browser + Monitor that the instructor assigns to you. You should do this with the exact setup you are going to use for the actual exam. If you encounter any difficulties during the practice exam, contact your instructor and IT Service Desk (servicedesk@dc-uoit.ca).
