Introduction to My Nursing Journey
Embarking on my learning journey through the nursing program has been a transformative experience, both professionally and personally. My path began at Fleming College, where I obtained my Practical Nursing diploma and successfully passed my registration exam to become a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN). Currently, I am honing my skills on an acute medical floor at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), an environment that challenges me daily and fosters my growth in delivering compassionate care. However, driven by a deep-seated passion for nursing and a desire to enhance my expertise, I decided to pursue a Nursing degree at Trent University. This decision was fueled by the aspiration not only to broaden my knowledge, skills, and judgment but also to explore the myriad opportunities that come with an advanced qualification within the nursing profession. As a dedicated nurse who cares deeply about people’s well-being—believing firmly in their inherent value and right to be heard and treated with equity—I am eager to contribute more significantly to healthcare advancements. Simultaneously managing this demanding yet rewarding pursuit is my life as a devoted mother of two teenage boys and wife to an adoring husband, whose unwavering support bolsters me as I navigate through this exhilarating chapter as a mature student. With each academic milestone achieved, hope radiates brighter for future endeavors in patient advocacy and leadership roles within healthcare settings, ensuring everyone receives fair treatment steeped in compassion—a vision integral to why I cherish being part of such a noble profession.
