My Nursing Philosophy
rbruce
Creating my nursing philosophy involved reflecting deeply on the core values, beliefs, and principles that guide my current practice as a registered practical nurse. I believe that nursing is more than just providing medical care; it is a dedication to providing people with holistic care that considers their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs and those of their communities. Being a nurse means embracing empathy as a foundational pillar—recognizing the inherent dignity in every patient interaction and fostering therapeutic relationships built on trust and respect. My philosophy is rooted in advocacy: championing patient rights, promoting health equity, and ensuring that each patient’s voice is heard within an often complex healthcare system. This role combines an unyielding pursuit of knowledge and lifelong learning to adapt evidence-based practices for optimal patient outcomes. Therefore, I decided to pursue my registered nursing designation and return to Trent University to obtain my bachelor of science in Nursing (BScN).
