About the authors

Sue Wells MA ECE RT

Although retired from full time work now, I was an academic leader for almost 30 years. In this role, I had the unique privilege of engaging in reflective practice discussions with all the faculty within the department. These were, by far, my favorite meetings of the year. It is through this experience that I learned about the innovation, passion and scholarship that our faculty bring to their profession and the depth of their reflections on the teaching and learning process. I am inspired by what faculty learn through reflective practice and am sharing the tools and ideas in this manual in the hope that others will become inspired as well.

Lisa McCaie BEd ECE RT

My path to becoming a full-time professor teaching Early Childhood Education at Centennial College, began when I become a graduate of the program. As a faculty member, Early Childhood Educator, Resource Educator, and alumni of Centennial, I’ve seen my reflective practice journey grow and develop throughout the years as I’ve engaged with these various roles. An important driver of my reflective practice is my passion towards children, their families, and for the field of Early Childhood Education. As a faculty member, I try to share and instill these same values with my students. I believe that the best learning happens when students are interested, engaged, challenged and supported. I hope this manual and the testimonials provided will be a source of inspiration as faculty enhance their own reflective practice journeys.
