Course Design

Designing  a course can be a sophisticated and complex process. The process involves developing a streamlined course and learning activities that guide students along various milestones with the end goal of achieving specific learning outcomes. Course design requires considerable skill in analysis, critical thinking, and knowledge of current content, combined with plenty of ingenuity and creativity. With so much skill and time involved in designing a course, how do you know if you are doing it well?

An excellent resource to help you answer this question is a subject matter expert.  This person may be a skilled teacher or an industry expert in the content of your course or courses that you would like reviewed. For example, a member of the Program Advisory Committee can provide advise on the currency of your content, while a faculty member from either your discipline or another, can provide insight to the structure and clarity of the content that you have created.
