What is Nearpod?

Nearpod is an online platform that allows users to create and share interactive presentations for their courses. You can either build your presentation from scratch, or upload an existing PowerPoint presentation and add interactions throughout.

Nearpod allows you to seamlessly integrate videos, links, PDFs, quizzes, polls, collaboration boards, and other activities within a single presentation. The platform is very user friendly and makes it possible for faculty to make their own presentations.

Delivery

Nearpods can be delivered synchronously or asynchronously. You can also allow students to navigate select slides asynchronously during a synchronous lesson.

Reporting

Nearpods can be added as assignments and linked to gradebook in MyCanvas and Canvas Connect. You can also embed and/or link them within pages and have the reports save in your Nearpod account. 

Considerations

Nearpod links do expire and will need to be updated each semester if integrated in a course. Additionally, when uploading existing PowerPoint presentations the text is no longer accessible to screen reader technology, so the PowerPoint should still be provided to the learners as an alternative.
