4 REFLECTION!
Reflecting on one of the biggest challenge of transitioning as RPN to RN was my ability to balance studies and with existing professional and personal responsibilities. As a Mother of three children and community Nurse that need to provide constant care and support for the home front, a lot of distraction are unavoidable during lectures, quiz and exam preparation.
However work life and school balance is my priority as I transition into the RN program. Work–life balance (WLB) is defined as the harmony between work and non-work aspects of life. This is an important concept for organizations sustainability and for workers to continue to work healthily,(Fukuzaki et al., 2021). I have planned to balance work life and school as follows:
Part-Time or Casual Work: to reduce work hours to avoid burnout and to speak with my employer about adjusting my schedule temporarily, this correlate with the fact that,” time management strategies included terminating full time employment”(Melrose & Gordon, 2011).
Set Priorities: to focus on what’s most important each day and accept that I may not complete everything at once.
Ask for Help: to reach out to professors, classmates, or academic advisors with struggling coursework.
Prioritize Health: to eat nutritious meals, stay hydrated, and exercise regularly to maintain energy levels.
Finally, build support system by leaning on friends and family to help with chores or offer emotional support when needed.
