Methodology
A mixed-methods research design was adopted to address the research questions. Specifically, the use of student course feedback was considered to provide insight into how the standards assessed by the HOQAS review process were reflected in how students perceived and rated their courses. At the same time, semi-structured interviews were used to better understand the impact of the review process on faculty members. Interviews with institutional leadership and non-teaching staff helped to contextualize and understand the HOQAS review process as well as provide an opportunity for reflection on the process by those most familiar with its functioning.
