Student course feedback data

Two reference periods of student course feedback (SCF) data were included for analysis, corresponding to the approximate periods where courses could have undergone HOQAS review: academic years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017. While consistent within a reference period (i.e. for each term), the SCF survey changed between academic years. The 2015/2016 version contained 32 questions (28 scale questions and 4 open ended questions); the 2016/2017 version contained 9 questions (5 scale questions and 4 open ended questions). As well, different numbers of questions in each survey version corresponded to difference features of the course: the 2015/2016 version contained 5 categories—student, curriculum, course, professor, and capstone; the 2016/2017 version contained 2 categories—course and professor. Mean student ratings of each course was computed for a subset of the scale questions: for the 2015/2016 version, the curriculum and course category scale questions were used (10 items); for the 2016/2017 version, the course category scale questions (4 items) plus one overall professor question were used.
