Internal Program Pathways Overview
Internal program pathways facilitate movement or progression between Fanshawe programs through standardized credit recognition. These pathways provide students with internal credit transfer, advanced standing, or program admission and can involve any program, including preparatory programs such as General Arts and Science, apprenticeship programs, or graduate certificate programs. Internal program pathways may also move students from one type of credential (e.g., diploma) to another (e.g., degree). Related terms include laddering, bridging, and fast-track (see Appendix A, Glossary, for definitions).
As a best practice, Academic Schools are encouraged to consult with the CAE during the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal program pathways:
- Schools can collaborate with the Pathways Coordinator regarding identification of potential pathways, feasibility assessments, stakeholder consultations, pathways communications and pathways review.
- Schools collaborate with a Curriculum Consultant for degree program mapping and compliance with Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) requirements. Consultation with a Curriculum Consultant is also available for pathways among other credentials.
