Classroom Protocol: Community and Child Studies Foundations Program
We all learn and work better when we are with people we respect and who respect us. The College is a healthier and safer place to be when we can concentrate on the task at hand and not have to worry about harassment or discrimination. All members of the college community have specific responsibilities for achieving this goal, as well as rights, which are protected by the College. Please refer to College Policies on mycentennial. Students are expected to be present, punctual, and prepared for all classes. Unless otherwise directed by your professor, please do not attempt to enter a class when the door is closed. Please wait until the class takes a scheduled break.
In the event of a missed class, students are responsible to obtain any handouts or materials from peers distributed during that class. Furthermore, any notes should be obtained from fellow classmates. All students are responsible for contributing to a positive and respectful learning environment. Students are expected to listen attentively to the professor and other students when they are speaking, and respect their opinion. It is disrespectful to speak when another person is talking.
Regularly scheduled breaks will be provided during class time. Therefore, students are expected to remain in class until the scheduled break. Since class time is limited, students are expected to focus on that particular subject and not bring other work or other issues to that class. Students wishing to tape a class session must obtain permission both the instructor and students.
Students must read and adhere to the Centennial College Policy regarding disruptive behaviour. Instructors have the right to ask students to leave the class if their behaviour is disruptive or disrespectful to others. Since students come from a diversity of backgrounds, in our inclusive classrooms it is expected that students will respect the opinions of others. No personal attacks and/or the use of profanity are allowed.
