What Happens if You’re Late?

Late Arrival to Lab Classes Policy

Before Your First Lab Class
  •  Expectations Set by Professor (Lecture Day #1): The Professor will set expectations for punctuality and explain the process for lab classes.
  •  Expectations Set by Instructor (Lab Day #1): The Instructor will review all lab policies and guidelines related to lab attendance and expectations. This will be reinforced by Instructors each week in lab class.
During Lab Class – What Happens if You Arrive Late?

The policy depends on how many times you have arrived late (more than 10 minutes after the lab start time):

1. First Time Late (Over 10 Minutes):

  •  You will be reminded of the expectation to arrive on time.
  •  You will be allowed entry into the lab class.
  •  You will be deducted marks for punctuality in the student engagement and the lab instructor will leave a comment on the rubric.

2. Second Time Late (Over 10 Minutes):

  •  You will be reminded again of the expectation to arrive on time.
  •  You will be allowed entry into the lab class.
  • You will be deducted marks for punctuality in the student engagement and the lab instructor will leave a comment on the rubric.

3. Third Time Late (Over 10 Minutes):

  •  You will be reminded of the expectation to arrive on time.
  •  It is the lab instructors discretion whether to allow entry into the lab class. Student may be asked to leave and book a supervised lab session.
  • If asked to leave, you will receive a mark of 0/15 for the engagement mark for the lab session.
