Testing Procedures

Throughout the Practical Nursing Program, students will complete both theoretical and practical skill assessments. These may be conducted in-person or remotely, depending on the course requirements.

General Expectations

• Attendance at all scheduled examinations is mandatory. Absences must be reported to the course faculty prior to the start of the exam.
• If rescheduling is required due to illness or other valid reasons, students must submit appropriate documentation through the Student Wellness Documentation Portal.
• Students are responsible for knowing the location, start time, duration, and rules of conduct for each test or exam. These details will be communicated by the course instructor(s).
• Exams may be scheduled outside of regular class time.

Accommodated Testing

All requests for accommodated testing must be made in advance through the Accessible Learning Services department.

Exam Day Guidelines

To maintain fairness and academic integrity, the following rules apply during all testing sessions:

• Arrive at least 15 minutes early for check-in.
  Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be permitted to enter the testing space.
• Only students with a valid Mohawk One Card/Student ID will be allowed to enter. No other forms of ID are accepted.
• Personal belongings must be stored in a secure location (e.g., locker).
  Allowed items in the exam room:
  • Student ID
  • Pencil(s) and eraser
  • Clear water bottle (label removed)
• Students must sit as far apart as possible and keep their Student ID visible on the desk.
• Smartwatches, earbuds, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited.
• No conversation is permitted once seated. Communication between students during the exam is not allowed.
• Students must write their full name and student ID on both the hard copy exam and scantron (if applicable).
• The invigilator will announce the start and end times.
  No additional time will be granted beyond the scheduled session.
• Raise your hand if you have a question during the exam.
• Bathroom breaks are not permitted.
  Students with medical conditions requiring breaks must arrange accommodations in advance through Accessible Learning Services.
• Students may not leave the testing room until 30 minutes have passed.
  Once a student exits, re-entry is not permitted. Please avoid gathering or making noise outside the exam room.

Academic Integrity

• Any signs of dishonest behaviour (e.g., talking, whispering, wandering eyes) will result in an “X” marked on your exam as a warning. A second incident will result in removal from the testing room.
• Invigilators are authorized to inspect all materials and equipment.
  Possession of unauthorized materials (e.g., cheat sheets, notes, electronic devices) will result in immediate removal and be treated as a breach of academic integrity.
• All suspected or confirmed breaches will be managed according to Mohawk College’s Academic Integrity Policy.
