Technology Requirements for Online Learning
To succeed in your online courses at Mohawk College, make sure you’re set up with the right tech!
Computer & Internet
- You’ll need regular access to a computer with a stable internet connection.
- High-speed broadband (LAN, Cable, or DSL) is highly recommended.
- Some courses may have additional system requirements — check your course outline for details.
Software
- Most courses require word processing software (like Microsoft Word).
- Some may need video/audio players or specific applications.
- You might need to update Flash or Java for certain tools.
- Google Chrome is the preferred browser for the best experience.
Other Equipment
- Speakers or headphones
- Webcam and microphone for virtual classes and presentations
Online Classes: Microsoft Teams
Your synchronous (live) online classes will be held on Microsoft Teams.
This platform allows you to:
- Join live lectures and discussions
- Collaborate with classmates
- Chat with instructors during class
Make sure to download Microsoft Teams and sign in with your Mohawk College credentials to stay connected and engaged.
Wi-Fi Access
- Connect to Mohawk-WiFi at any campus, including the IAHS building.
- Log in using your Mohawk ID:

and your password.

📚 Learning Management System (LMS): MyCanvas
All your courses use MyCanvas as the main platform for learning. You’ll use it to:
- Access course materials
- Submit assignments
- Participate in discussions
- Take quizzes and more!
