Missed Evaluations

Missed Evaluations

Mohawk College requires all students to demonstrate achievement of course learning outcomes through formal evaluations, as outlined in the Course Learning Plans. Attendance and participation in scheduled evaluations are mandatory.

Missed Evaluation Policy

  • If an evaluation is missed, the student will receive a mark of “0” for that evaluation.
  • Students who experience exceptional circumstances may be eligible for relief or a supplemental assessment.

Known Absences

Students who are aware in advance that they will miss an evaluation must notify their professor before the scheduled date to be considered for relief. Acceptable reasons may include:

  • Varsity athletics
  • Official college events
  • Cultural or religious responsibilities
  • Competing academic conflicts
  • Unavoidable medical procedures

Note: Absences due to vacations, holidays, or work conflicts will not be considered for relief.

Unplanned Absences

Relief or supplemental assessments may be considered for:

  • Illness
  • Family emergency
  • Other extenuating circumstances

To be eligible:

  • The student must notify the course faculty prior to the assignment deadline, or at the earliest opportunity, up to a maximum of five (5) days after the missed evaluation.
  • Supporting documentation must be submitted through the Student Wellness Documentation Portal.
