Classroom Behaviour & Use of Technologies
To maintain a respectful and professional learning environment, students are expected to follow these classroom guidelines:
General Expectations
- Arrive on time for all classes.
- Cell phones, pagers, and other devices must be silenced and not used during class unless permitted by the instructor.
- Personal conversations and disruptions should be kept to a minimum.
- Breaks are determined by the instructor and may not be scheduled.
Failure to comply with these expectations may result in removal from class.

Use of Personal Technology Devices
Devices such as laptops, tablets, and cell phones may be used only to support academic learning. Students must:
- Avoid engaging in non-academic activities (e.g., games, social media).
- Use earphones only with prior approval from the instructor.
- Respect the learning environment and avoid distracting others.
Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal from class.

Telephone Use
- Use personal cell phones or pay phones for all personal calls.
- Classroom telephones at IAHS are for emergency use only.
- Cell phones and pagers must be silenced during all scheduled activities, including lectures, labs, clinical visits, and exams.
Photocopying
Students are responsible for their own personal photocopying expenses and must comply with international copyright laws.

Recording Devices
Students with accommodations through Accessible Learning Services may be permitted to use recording devices. However:
- Disclosure to the professor is required prior to recording.
- Permission must be obtained from professors and other students, in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and FIPPA.
- Recording may be restricted in certain situations.
