Assignment Submissions, Expectations & Extensions

It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that all assignments are submitted on time using the appropriate method, formatting, files etc. Students are responsible for following all assignment expectations set by faculty and as outlined in MyCanvas.

Students have the ability to submit assignments as many times as they wish up until the deadline and faculty will mark the latest submission.

It is a students responsibility to ensure assignments are submitted in full by the deadline. If a student is missing portions of an assignment after the deadline has passed, faculty will only mark what has been submitted. If students experience technical difficulties, they need to reach out to faculty prior to the deadline.

Late Submissions

  • Assignments submitted after the deadline without an approved extension will be subject to a 10% deduction per day.
  • Late assignments cannot be submitted after marks or feedback have been released by faculty.

Assignment Extensions

Assignment extensions may be granted in accordance with the Mohawk College Student Assessment Policy. Extensions will only be considered under the following conditions:

  • Legitimate medical or exceptional circumstances
  • Approved accommodations through Accessible Learning Services

To be eligible:

  • The student must notify the course faculty prior to the assignment deadline, or at the earliest opportunity, up to a maximum of five (5) days after the deadline.
  • Same-day extension requests will not be granted.
  • Supporting documentation may be required.
  • Extensions cannot be provided for group assignments.

Re-Grading

Re-grading of assignments is not supported in the Practical Nursing Program. Students and faculty should follow the academic appeals policy if there are concerns with grading.
