Weather & Campus Closures

In the event of inclement weather or emergency situations, students are responsible for checking official sources for campus closure updates before attending classes or clinical placements.

General Guidelines

• If Mohawk College or McMaster University is closed, students are not expected to attend in-person classes, labs, or professional practice placements.
• Each institution makes independent closure decisions, so students must check both Mohawk and McMaster sources.
• For online classes, check MyCanvas announcements and email for updates from your instructor.

Closure information for both schools can also be found by listening to local radio and TV stations. Also, each school will send out notifications to subscribers via the mobile notification systems.

If the college is open but a student chooses not to travel on an exam/test day, the student must notify the faculty prior to the event. Failure to do so can result in a mark of 0.

Note: Information about cancellation of particular classes or exams is generally not available. Students should clarify the policy regarding clinical and work placements with faculty and/or clinical preceptors.

The college will be closed for all Statutory Holidays: Please follow the academic calendar for identified dates.
