Theoretical and practical skill tests/examinations will occur throughout the program either in-person or remotely. Attendance at examinations is mandatory, and absence must be reported to the course faculty before the exam begins.
Students are required to submit medical or other supporting documentation for verification and validation through the Student Wellness Documentation Portal if an exam rescheduling is required.
It is the responsibility of the student to be aware of the place, starting time and duration of all tests as well as the rules of conduct, which govern them. Tests and exams will be written at the scheduled dates and times, as communicated by the course instructor(s). Tests and examinations may or may not be scheduled during class time.
All requests for accommodated testing must be made in advance to the Accessible Learning Services department . Visit Mohawk College’s Accessible Learning Services website for more details.
Exam Day Guidelines
- Plan to arrive at the exam at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time for check-in. Be ON TIME for your exam. Students will not be allowed to enter the testing space if they are more than 10 minutes late from the start time of the exam.
- Students may only enter the exam space with Mohawk One card/Student ID. NO other form of identification will be accepted.
- Students MUST store their personal belongings in a secure place (e.g. locker) during the test. The only items allowed in the exam room are pencils, eraser, water in a clear bottle, and the student’s Mohawk College ONE Card ID.
- Students are required to sit as far apart as possible to ensure adequate space.
- Place Student ID/One Card visible on desk for the duration of the exam.
- Students may have on their desk: Student ID card, pencil(s), eraser, and a water bottle with no label (clear bottle only). ALL other items should be in a locker or at the front of the classroom (bags, coats, phones, pencil cases, hats etc.)
- Students cannot wear any smartwatches or other pieces of technology (earbuds etc.)
- Listen attentively to the instructions and adhere to all exam rules.
- No conversation is allowed once students are seated in the test room. Once the test is in progress, no communication of any sort between students is allowed in the test room.
- Write full name and student ID on hard copy exam AND on the scantron.
- Students are encouraged to answer questions on BOTH the scantron and hard copy of the exam.
- The invigilator will announce the start and end times for the test session. Test time includes the time required for the student to fill in the computer scoring sheet if used for that test. No additional time will be given to any student for writing after the test session is over.
- If you have a question during your exam, please raise your hand.
- Bathroom breaks are not permitted during the exam. If you are ill on the day of the exam, please email your faculty member. If you have a medical condition that requires breaks during the exam, you need to arrange for an accommodation through Accessible Learning Services.
- Students cannot leave the testing room until 30 minutes have passed, even if their exam is complete.
- Once you leave the testing room, you will not be allowed to re-enter. Do not gather outside of exam room and ensure noise is kept to a minimum.
Academic Integrity: If there is any talking, whispering, eyes wandering or other signs of dishonest behaviour an “X” will be placed on your exam as a warning. If you are caught engaging in dishonest behaviour again, a second “X” will be placed on your exam and you will be asked to leave the testing room.
Academic Integrity: Invigilators are authorized to inspect all equipment and materials used inside a testing facility. If a student is found to have hard evidence of academic dishonesty (cheat sheet, notes, electronic communication device, etc.) this will result in automatic removal from the testing room.
Any breach or suspected breach in Academic Integrity will be managed according to the policies of Mohawk College.
