Classroom Behaviour & Use of Technologies
The following are the expectations of this faculty for the college students in their classroom:
- Operating cell phones, blackberries, iPhones, pagers, etc during class is prohibited unless otherwise instructed by the faculty member.
- Personal discussions and disruptions should be kept to a minimum.
- Punctual arrival for class start.
- The instructor determines when and if the class will take a break.
Failure to comply with the above expectations may result in the student being removed from that class. Please refer to the MyMohawk site for policies on “Student Behaviour”.

If you are disruptive in any way in class, this will be pointed out to you, since ignoring it may be interpreted as reinforcing a negative behaviour. There is a clearly stated College policy on Student Behaviour. Students are expected to review and abide by this policy.
Personal Technology Devices
(including but not limited to: laptops, tablets, cell phones, etc)
In order to maintain an appropriate and professional learning environment, students are not to engage in activities unrelated to the classroom learning. Therefore, students are to show respect and limit usage of their device. Devices should only be used to support students’ academic studies. Students are not to abuse their device privilege by engaging in online materials or activities irrelevant to classroom learning such as games and social networking sites. Earphone use is prohibited in the classroom unless pre-approved by the course professor. Lack of adherence to these expectations may result in student dismissal and will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Telephone (cell phones & pagers)
Students are to use pay telephones or their personal cell phones for ALL personal calls. The telephones in IAHS classrooms are for Emergency use only. Cell phones and pagers must be silenced during all scheduled classes, lectures, labs, clinical site visits and exams, unless otherwise instructed.
Photocopying
Students are responsible for all personal photocopying expenses incurred during the Program. Students are expected to abide by the International Laws of Copyright protection. (See Mohawk College Library @ IAHS for further information).
Recording Devices

As part of a student’s Accommodation through Accessible Learning Services, they may be permitted to use a recording device. The student must disclose this to the professor prior to recording, and there may be situations in which recording will not be permitted.
Permission to make audio or video recordings of academic related activities for educational purposes must be obtained from the appropriate professor(s) and students, in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, before making such recording. Permission shall not be withheld unreasonably.
