School Communications

There are several ways in which information about the College and your program will be communicated to you as well as ways in which you can connect with professors and School staff.

Communicating with Professors

Since our class is on Slack, the best way to reach each faculty member is to DM them on Slack. If the question is of relevance to the entire class, you can post your question on the course channel. DMs are private unless there are multiple people on the DM (such as your group mates).

All your professors have their email associated with their profile on SLACK and in each of their course shells.

All courses at Centennial College have an online learning environment on Centennial Luminate, the College’s learning management system. You may message your professor from within your Luminate course shell. Log into Centennial Luminate with your student number and password. Under ‘Course Faculty’ on the main page, you will see a list of your professor(s). Use the envelope icon to message your professor.

Centennial Luminate Announcements

Centennial Luminate is the College’s learning management system where you will access an online learning environment for all your courses. Students are encouraged to regularly check the Announcements section in their Centennial Luminate course shells for important course information, updates, reminders, changes, class resources, and new information from professors and department administration.

These announcements can also be previewed from the base navigation menu under Activity.

myCentennial Email

myCentennial is your electronic portal to Centennial College information and services such as registration, fee payments, grades, and courses in which you are enrolled. Every student is provided with a myCentennial email account. Your myCentennial account is your official College email account; College communications will be sent to you at this account. It is recommended that you use your myCentennial email account as your preferred email address for College-related business to ensure you do not miss important information. Log into myCentennial with your student number and password.

Key Takeaway

If a faculty member (or classmates) need to reach you, they can and should send you a DM on Slack. Please download SLACK onto your phone as an app AND as an app on your laptop desktop. We do not recommend accessing Slack via the browser.

Make sure you regularly monitor your myCentennial email account. This is your official email account for College-related business. We recommend you go into settings and forward your myCentennial account to the email that you check frequently (gmail, for example) to ensure you don’t miss anything.
