2 Placement Credit Requirements
Placement Credit Requirement for Graduation
Because a placement is a curricular form of work-integrated learning (WIL), successful completion of the placement credit is a prerequisite for graduation from a program of study that includes a placement component. A program normally includes only one placement opportunity; therefore, it is critically important for students to successfully secure and complete the placement in order to graduate from the program of study.
Evaluation of the Placement for Graduation
Placements are an integral part of the program of study and as such, receive a credit designation on the student’s transcript.
The Placement Credit is awarded based on:
- Successful completion of all required placement hours.
- Successful completion of the student feedback form
- Successful completion of the student reflection assignment.
- Student evaluation and feedback provided by the placement supervisor.
- Any additional program-specific requirements provided by the Program Coordinator.
Failure to complete and submit all of these requirements will result in a FL grade or I grade.
Placement students must adhere to the provisions of their placement agreement including start and end date of the placement opportunity. Any student quitting or leaving a placement early or asking for significant time off will risk a failed grade for the placement credit.
The following is a list of grade designations:
R = Requirements met, credit awarded | |
FL = Unsuccessful, no credit awarded

I = Incomplete

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
Mohawk College recognizes that learning equivalent to the content of the placement experience can occur outside of the college environment. Students with significant and relevant prior work experience relevant to the program of study may apply for a placement credit via a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition. Students considering a PLAR are advised to contact the Field Placement Support Officer for additional information.
