4.1 X-Ray Diffractometer
The apparatus you will use in this experiment is shown in Figure 2. The Bruker Venture D8 is one of the most ubiquitous X-ray diffractometers available. It is used more than 70% of published structures from 2015-2018. It provides up to 6 × 1011 X-rays/mm2/s with an active area of up to 280 cm2. The instrument rotates the sample and detector to measure peaks due to Bragg scattering.

4.2 Nd-LSCO Sample
The sample is grown right here on campus by researchers with Dr. Pat Clancy’s group. I don’t have details or the crystal growth procedure, but interested students could reach out to Dr. Clancy with questions.
