Preamble

Using instrumentation at the McMaster Nuclear Reactor, students will perform a version of the first magnetic neutron diffraction experiment on MnO, a particular magnetic insulator, where Antiferromagnetism was definitively observed for the first time.

WARNING:  You must have completed the microwave diffraction experiment (or at least done the Bragg Diffraction exercise) in order to perform this experiment.

WARNING:  You must have government issue ID in order to enter the reactor.  Driver’s license or passport are your best options.
