Lab 3: RC Circuits and Oscilloscopes
Experimental Apparatus
The PASCO components and other complimentary hardware are shown in Figure 3. Note that there is no module for the oscilloscope connection, so you will be using an adapter cable that goes from the ‘scope BNC connector to the red and black alligator clips. Then you can monitor the AC signal from wherever you like in the circuit.

3.1 Oscilloscopes
You’re finally going to start using an oscilloscope! The ‘scope is one of the most versatile instruments in the lab. It allows the user to measure voltages from V to 100 V at timescales from 10’s of seconds down to nanoseconds.
The ‘scope you’ll use is the TBS1052 from Tektronix (Figure 4. We have some ‘scopes made by companies other than Tektronix. We don’t use them, though. We use the good ones ;).
