Exercise 3: Uphill

3.1 Watch the second short video below for this lab called “Uphill”.

For this scenario, sketch x(t), v(t) and a(t) graphs for the motion. Take x=0 at the far end of the track and the positive direction down the track (as shown). Make sure that your sketch shows the cart at rest (for a finite interval) before it is set in motion.

Once your group agrees on the sketches, you can explain it all to your lab instructor and then move to the next exercise. (Have your sheet signed)

 

3.2 Once your group agrees on a set of sketches, use Capstone to verify your predictions. (Tilting the track is the easiest way to produce the desired motion of the cart. Don’t let the cart hit the sponge.)

If necessary correct your diagrams, and try to discern the error(s) in your original argument.

Discuss your results with your lab instructor. They will want to see your measurements on the screen. (Have your sheet signed)
