Exercise 2: To and Fro

Watch the first short video for this lab called “To and Fro”:

Draw 3 large graphs, one underneath the other, as shown in the diagram below.

Sketch x(t), v(t) and a(t) graphs for the motion.  The first graph should show position vs. time, the second, velocity vs. time, and the third, acceleration vs. time. The time axes must be aligned vertically. DO NOT TAKE DATA – there should not be data on your Capstone software before you make your predictions.

Take x=0 as the initial position of the cart and the positive direction to the right. Assume that the cart moves smoothly and is never travelling at a constant velocity.

Make sure that your sketch shows the cart at rest (for a finite interval) at either end.

Discuss your prediction graphs with your lab instructor. (Have your sheet signed)
