Quadratic Formula on your calculator

The following is the instructions to solve for roots of a quadratic equation.

Written instructions:

  1. Press “Mode” three (3) times
  2. Press “1” to select the EQN mode
  3. Press “Mode” once
  4. Press “2” to select the second degree equation (quadratic). You will enter the coefficients of the equation of this format: ax^2+bx+c
  5. Enter the value of “a” and press “=”
  6. Enter the value of “b” and press “=”
  7. Enter the value of “c” and press “=”
  8. The screen will now show the value of the first root (x1). Press “=” to get the second root (x2). Pressing “=” again will let you modify the coefficients you entered.
  9. To return to the normal calculator mode, press “Mode” and then “1” for COMP.

Feel free to use this time-saving method of computing the roots of a quadratic when you are working on homework and on tests in this course.
