Introduction to the Person Centered Planning & Advocacy Pressbook

This interactive Pressbook will include all of the tools you will need to understand and use in your Person Centered Plan Assignment.

Note: Your person centered plan assignment is worth 25% of your grade. This book makes up a large amount of content in this class. Each week you will be assigned a chapter (or chapters) to complete. You will find the link to the chapter(s) in Moodle that you need to complete for that week. A review of each chapter in class will happen on the following week, so please do not fall behind!

Each chapter includes:

  • Videos, details, and examples of the tool
  • An example of the tool created for Friday Knight Love’s Puppy Centered Plan. You can see the example of his full plan in the assignment section of the course.
  • A knowledge debrief & a Person Centered Plan Task:

Knowledge Debrief

A knowledge debrief (in purple) – are questions you must answer and score a minimum of 70%.

Person Centered Plan Task

A Person Centered Plan Task (in green) – this is a task that will become part of your Person Centered Plan Assignment.

Before you begin:

Step 1: Choose a focus person for your Person Centered Plan. This can be anyone you wish (someone you currently support, a family member, a friend, another student). Note: Please be sure the focus person is aware that you will be creating a personalized plan for them that you will be submitting to your teacher for grading. If you choose someone you support as your focus person, be sure to get their permission as well as the agency’s approval.

Step 2: Commit to doing the assigned chapters each week, completing the knowledge debrief independently, and completing the weekly task. (Completion of the weekly task will help you complete your Person Centered Plan assignment on time.)
