Upon successful completion of these subjects in this module, students will be able to:
- Summarize the oral facial features and how they are reference points in dentistry
- Describe the makeup of the oral cavity and its two particular parts
Learning Objectives
At the end of this module, you will be able to:
- 5.1 Identify key terms associated with landmarks of the face and oral cavity.
- 5.2 Identify the nine regions of the face, and include the facial features located throughout those regions.
- 5.3 Describe the facial skin and include the types of tissue found.
- 5.4 Identify the landmarks on and around the lips.
- 5.5 Identify the composition of the vestibule of the oral cavity and recognize the mucobuccal fold, mucogingival junction, buccal vestibule, parotid papilla, and linea alba.
- 5.6 Locate and identify the following landmarks: frenum, labial frenum, and lingual frenum.
- 5.7 Define gingiva and describe its characteristics.
